Sound Mind Therapy is pleased to offer virtual counseling sessions for those clients who prefer not to visit our office due to the coronavirus outbreak. We are having great success with virtual appointments and want to raise awareness of this option by answering some commonly asked questions.
What Is Virtual Counseling?
Virtual counseling/therapy takes place between a client and therapist via an online videoconference, rather than in our office. The therapeutic benefits are the same but you can meet from the comfort and safety of your home or office. Appointments last the same amount of time (50-60 minutes) and you save drive time!
How Does It Work?
It is important that you find a private room equipped with internet access and a computer with a webcam for your online counseling appointment. Some clients are escaping to a bedroom, bathroom, closet and even their car to have quiet time for their sessions!
Our therapists use a HIPPA-compliant secure video platform so your privacy and information are protected. Before your first session, you will receive an email with instructions for using this virtual platform. You will be put into a virtual waiting room and then the therapist will invite you when ready. Your therapist will take notes during the session and send them to you after the session.
Who Can I Work With?
All of our therapists are licensed and can work with clients via virtual counseling in the states where they are licensed.
