Evonne’s Tip on Fear

Do you know what is the real culprit that lurks behind all relationship problems-be it relationships with others, our partners and even with ourselves?

When I look back on my 30 years as a relationship therapist working with individuals, parents and couples, I can say a one word answer to the question above. Fear! To those of you who say, I’m not afraid of anything! The truth is… everyone is afraid of something. Chances could be that your fears live underground in well-camouflaged tunnels. But they are there. We keep our fears below the radar so our unacceptable emotions are kept under wraps. And how do we do that? Rather than go inside of ourselves and confront our fears, we begin to search for answers outside of ourselves. So much easier to hide our fears by saying what the other person should do differently ….rather than what we are going to do differently.
